In AFormX, we had developed and produced 35 different VR simulators. Most importantly, in this process, our capacity for creating animations from FDR data with X-Plane grew exponentially.

We offer Animations from Flight Data Recorder (FDR) data using X-Plane 12 that will help you determine the facts, conditions and circumstances of an the accident or incident.

HERE IS A PRACTICAL EXAMPLE OF AN AIRPLANE ACCIDENT AT OUR LOCAL AIRFIELD

X-Plane can load a information from a flight data recorder (FDR). This is useful primarily in accident investigation and re-creation.

In our case, we took the data from the SkyDeamon onboard of the aircraft and put it in a format that X‑Plane can read: the Flight Data Recorder (or ‘.fdr’) format. This is plain text file formatted in a particular way.

From this we were able to produce an animation of the accident in X-Plane. You can watch the two videos of the animation below. The first is from the pilot’s perspective, the second one is from an outside observer’s perspective.

VISION OF AFormX FOR VR SIMULATORS

We will capitalise on what we know from the completed projects.

At the present time our greatest leverage is the extensive experience in VR based flight simulation for public, but especially for training use. We will focus on building simulators that get used extensively.

In the field of animations, we offer our services to:

  • help identify all immediate and underlying systemic causes and/or contributing factors of the accident or incident;
  • help identify other hazards or deficiencies within the aviation system not
    directly connected with the causes of the accident.
  • offer an additional visual tool to help determining why the accident or incident happened in the first place;

And we look forward to all the wonderful challenges coming our way.

DO YOU NEED AN ANIMATION?

If you have a requirement for an aviation-related animation for research, public or training use, we would love to hear from you via the contact page.

AWARDS FOR OUR VR SIMULATORS

Our work in the field of VR simulators was publicly recognised and awarded on several occasions. Here we present only the most important national and international awards

• national level – Golden National Innovation Award – 2017
• international level – Winners of Royal Aeronautical Society General Aviation Design challenge 2018-2019

GOLDEN NATIONAL INNOVATION AWARD

In 2017 our company had only six full time employees. And we still won the prestigious national Chamber of Commerce award for innovation for our work on the X-ALPHA series of simulators, which is the only award given on a national level for innovation. The importance of this award which was underlined by the president of Slovenia giving the opening address to the award ceremony.

This achievement was further underlined by the visit of Prime Minister of Slovenia Miro Cerar, PhD to fly the X-ALPHA at our workshop in December 2017.

ROYAL AERONAUTICAL SOCIETY LIGHT AIRCRAFT DESIGN COMPETITION (2018-2019)

We entered this very challenging international competition and ended up among the three winners. You can read more about the project in the specific AFormX model R(e) simulator page.

A great addition to our celebration in London in November 2019 was the attendance of the award ceremony by His excellency Mr. Tadej Rupel – ambassador of Republic of Slovenia to the U.K.
